According to Goodwin's theory, our video probably best follows the conventions of 'Amplification' as the lyrics to Diamonds are Forever are about diamonds and how much the singer likes them but our video introduces new meanings to those lyrics by having the singers love diamonds so much they steal them.
Basically what I'm trying to say is our video has a narrative, it isn't just a lot of random shots of performances or various unrelated imagery, it tells a story. But there is no point telling a story in a music video if it isn't clear what the story is. So before we began editing, which will be tomorrow, I wanted to check with our target audience that the narrative was clear and could be understood.
So, I quickly edited just the first part of the narrative together to see how potentially it may look in at least the rough cut. The video below is not how the music video will look it is just something I made quickly for this to check it made sense and would work. I asked a member of the target audience (male, 17, likes rock music) to watch and give me some feedback so here's what I got:
(He said he would only do this if he didn't have to show his face.)
So that was encouraging. For the first part of the video the narrative so far makes sense to our target audience.
