Thursday 31st October was a momentous day. It proved to be the greatest All Hallows Eve ever, as The Jewelers began filming their music video for Diamonds Are Forever. We spent a long time getting our base tracks, filming five or six in all, and I had to perform in all of them, which was very fun. It was very tricky doing things exactly the same over and over again because it's all so precise and the attention to detail has to be incredible.
The school was kind enough to provide us with all of the instruments necessary, including a drum kit (a shiny one which I got told off by Maria for playing over and over again), a bass, an electric guitar and a microphone with stand. These completed our look and helped filming to go very smoothly, which is a huge relief.
We spent roughly five hours in total filming, excluding a 30 minute lunch break. We hoped to film for longer, getting all of our filming done, but unfortunately the school staff decided to leave without telling us, leaving us unable to film the final few shots that we required, which was very unfortunate, but we do have a lot of time available to be able to get these shots done.
We also had the magic of love approach us during filming, with the budding love affair between Ella and a plastic gun (seen to the right). These props are going to come in handy, with the heist part of the music video, but unfortunately we were told not to use guns or knives in the music video, so we may just end up going for a more stealthy approach to the music video, which matches the song, so in a way it is for the best we didn't get around to doing many heist shots, as the inability to use guns may have set us back slightly.
All in all our filming has been going exceptionally well, with only a few minor areas for improvement, some of which were beyond The Jewelers' control. I hope we can keep up our excellent progress into the final filming session, which I will be sure to keep you posted on. Go Wildcats!
